I have heard and saw tons of videos about Elisa Lam's mysterious case. I have seen several theories and conspiracies surrounding her untimely death. Then there was this thread that Sir Spooks (one of my all-time favourite horror narrator/channel) posted about the underrated horror movies and it has the movie "Dark Water" in it. We kind of agreed that the similarities between the story in Dark Water (2002 Japanese and 2005 Western remake) and Elisa's case is eerily close. I actually opened to Sir Spooks the possibility that Dark Water was the inspiration for Elisa's death (in any case that if this will be ruled as a murder) which is not too far-fetched, to be honest. There are already videos of police investigators confirming that the death of Elisa Lam is caused by accidental drowning and thus, solving and closing the case but verifying this known detail, is it really enough to say that it has been indeed solved and should be considered as case close? I still think there are still a lot of stones unturned and questions left unanswered in regards to her mysterious death. Her case is surrounded with both paranormal, medical, and criminal conspiracy that in all honesty, it can be anything of those.
This well-known clip of the cctv captures the last moments of Elisa. Her erratic action and behaviour is still one of the questions unanswered.
If you guys are not familiar with Elisa Lam case, she is a twenty-one year old Canadian-Asian student that has a history of bipolar and depression. She traveled to the West Coast. She stayed in Cecil Hotel while in Los Angeles. If you guys are basically the same like me, you would already know the past about Cecil Hotel, being famous as one of the most haunted hotels in America. She was found dead inside the the hotel's water tank in February 2013.
I am not going into the details regarding Elisa's case it has been tackled by several theorist and youtube conspiracy channels. I want to focus on the "similarities" of the movie Dark Water to her case.
There are two movies for Dark Water, the Japanese original which was in 2002 and the Western remake which was in 2005. These movies are released few years before Elisa's death. The points I will be indicating below are the similarities.
> In Dark Water 2005 (remake), the name of the main characters in the remake are Dahlia (mother) and her daughter, Cecilia. Dahlia and Cecilia are probably a coincidence that these names were the ones used for the movie. Elisa died while staying in Cecil Hotel. Dahlia? Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia, one of the best known unsolved murders. One of the last few sightings of Elizabeth Short before her gruesome death was in Cecil Hotel's bar.
> Camera angles of the elevator cctv in the movie (2005) and elevator cctv above are both similar.
> The camera shot of the tank in the 2005 movie is almost if not the same as the water tank of Cecil Hotel. The top photo was a screencapture from the movie, below it was the water tank in Cecil Hotel. The photo beside it is the real water tank where Elisa's body was found.
> The clothing similarities between Yoshimi (mother in the Japanese original) and Elisa.

> Elisa was seen wearing a red jacket in the elevator. The red hoodie of Cecilia (2005) and the red bag of the ghost girl (2002). I mean what is it with the colour red? Why all of them coincidentally had this color? Is there a significance or probably a weird coincidence?
> The door going to the roof top has a locked and alarmed. There is a scene in the movie where the kid had gotten accessed to the supposedly locked door. Same instance with Elisa who had gone through a supposedly locked door and weirdly enough, the alarm didn't sound off.
> The residents complaining about the low pressure of water and it being foul-smelling and having a weird taste. After guests/residents also complained about some water discoloration.
> Death by drowning. I, for one still think that this case is something more than accidental drowning maybe related to mental illness. Her mental state might have been factor but there are also several evidence that points out that she may not be alone that time. Whether it might be paranormal, mental state, or a person that might have ill intent, we can't know for sure. It might take a while to find a concrete evidence to actually close this story. I just hope for a closure for this for both her family and for Elisa, RIP.
